The NSSDMS currently has only one committee in active status.

Legislation Committee

The LC is currently working with the Nova Scotia Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (NSAMRT) to add diagnostic ultrasound as a new discipline in their proposed college. This means that diagnostic sonography will become a self regulated profession along with radiography, nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance imaging and radiation therapy.

Please click on NSAMRT on the "Links" page. This will take you directly to the area on the NSAMRT web site where you can download the drafts of both the Act and the Regulations. These are 2 separate documents. The Act is the piece of legislation that establishes the college. The Act is where you will find the definitions and scopes of practice for each discipline. The regulations are the specifics of how the college will work. For instance, it is in the regulations that you will find how patient complaints are handled and the criteria that must be met by each member every year to be granted a license.

Feel free to use the contact page to e-mail any questions or concerns that you have to either Erin Lushman, President, or Joann Chapman, Legislation Committee Chair.
