Cynthia Johnson Evans Award
The Nova Scotia Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers presents the Cynthia Johnson Evans award to a 3rd
year student in the diagnostic medical ultrasound program at the School of Health Sciences, Dalhousie University.
This award is presented to a student who displays excellence in clinical practice during the program.The recipient
is chosen by a majority vote of preceptors in clinical placement sites.

Jeanne Macdonald Memorial Award
The Nova Scotia Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers presents the Jeanne MacDonald Memorial Award to a
practicing sonographer who embraces the values of patient advocacy, patient care and compassion. The recipient
is nominated by co-workers who feel that the sonographer demonstrates these values in consistent and exemplary
patient care. The nomination is supported with a letter describing the ways in which the nominee demonstrates these
values. A committee consisting of one executive member of the NSSDMS, and 2 sonographers from the IWK Health Center
will review all submissions and determine the recipient. In cases where a sonographer from the IWK Health Center
is nominated, all members of the committee shall be sonographers from institutions other than the IWK.
